A Rare alignment of Planets Will grace the Morning Sky This Month

For early risers,a celestial treat is in store. Five planets – Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn – will appear in a striking line across the eastern horizon before sunrise throughout June.

This planetary alignment, though not exceptionally rare, is a gorgeous sight and offers a unique prospect for stargazers. The planets will be visible to the naked eye, appearing as radiant “stars” in a row.

“this is a really lovely alignment,” says astronomer Emily Lockyer of the Royal Astronomical Society. “You’ll be able to see five of our solar system’s planets all in a line, stretching across the sky.”

The best time to view the alignment will be in the hour before sunrise. Look towards the east, low on the horizon. Venus will be the brightest object, easily spotted, followed by Jupiter. Mars will appear as a reddish hue, while Mercury and Saturn will be fainter.

The alignment will be most prominent around June 18th, but the planets will remain clustered together for much of the month, making it a great opportunity to catch this cosmic display. No special equipment is needed – just a clear eastern horizon and a bit of patience.
