The collaboration between Sega’s Sonic the Hedgehog and Toho’s Godzilla franchises has been a frequently requested event by fans, according to IDW. The publisher has been working to bring the two iconic licenses together for some time, and the project gained momentum in the past year.1
Creative Team and Inspiration
The series will be written by Nick Marino, known for his operate on Godzilla Rivals, with art by Jack Lawrence and colors by Reggie Graham. Marino drew inspiration from the Dreamcast classic Sonic Adventure, specifically its large city hub world, Station Square, as a setting for the epic clash between Sonic and Godzilla.1 He noted that the scale of the monsters necessitated a larger canvas for destruction and chaos.1
Story Synopsis
The storyline centers around the mysterious arrival of Godzilla and other kaiju in Sonic’s world.
