Plot and Character Dynamics
In the narrative, Sophia is described as highly intelligent, attractive, and a skilled cook, though she struggles with physical mechanics like opening doors. Wolfgang, a history professor recently left by his wife, chooses Sophia as his new life partner. According to the production details, Wolfgang’s successful influencer daughter, Helena, reacts with dismay because Sophia resembles a younger version of her mother. Helena arrives with her partner Jonas—an unsuccessful computer scientist with culinary ambitions—to celebrate Wolfgang’s 60th birthday, an event Wolfgang appears to have forgotten. Concurrently, Wolfgang has lost his university chair, and his apartment has been cleared out, while Sophia assists him by preparing meals akin to delivering scientific lectures. Unlike Helena, Jonas finds himself deeply fascinated by Sophia, and as he engages with her culinary preparations, the android develops a surprising autonomy.
