Sophie Cunningham Reveals Dating Preference: No Shorter Men
Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham recently shared a firm dating rule on her “Show Me Something” podcast: she will not date men shorter than her.
Height Requirement
Cunningham, who stands 6-foot-1, explained that she prefers a partner who makes her feel smaller. “I could never date someone shorter than me,” she stated, according to reports. “Because I’m already big. So I wish someone who is going to make me feel smaller.”
A Common Preference in the WNBA?
Cunningham added that despite her preference, she recognizes the positive qualities in many people. However, she emphasized her inability to date someone shorter than herself, stating she would “just feel like the man in my relationship.” This preference isn’t unique within the WNBA, as Los Angeles Sparks guard Angel Reese has previously expressed a similar dating preference.
Fan Favorite and Recent Injury
Cunningham has become a popular figure with Fever fans, known for her assertive play and support of teammate Caitlin Clark. However, Cunningham’s 2025 season was cut short due to a right MCL tear sustained in a game against the Connecticut Sun. The Daily Mail reported on this injury, which will retain her sidelined for the remainder of the season.
Indiana Fever Injury Concerns
The Indiana Fever have been significantly impacted by injuries in the 2025 season. Cunningham joins Chloe Bibby, Sydney Colson, and Aari McDonald as players who will not return to the court until 2026. Yahoo Sports notes that the Fever have employed a total of 17 players this season, a high number reflecting the team’s injury struggles.
Looking Ahead
Despite the setbacks, the Fever currently hold the #8 seed in the playoffs, with hopes remaining for a potential return from Caitlin Clark, who is currently sidelined with a groin injury.
