Sopra Steria Unveils 24,000 m² Sustainable Headquarters in Blagnac, Set to Open in 2027

Sopra Steria, a leading European IT services and consulting company, has announced the construction of a new regional headquarters in Blagnac, France, according to Audrey Camus, CEO of the real estate firm Foncière d’Icade. The 24,000 m² facility, named “Horizon,” will replace the Centreda buildings on 4 avenue Didier-Daurat and is scheduled to open in autumn 2027, with a 10-year lease agreement signed by Sopra Steria.

What Is the Horizon Project?

The Horizon project, developed by GA Smart Building and designed by Sud Architectes, will feature four interconnected five-story buildings. The complex includes solar panels, a 2,264 m² suspended garden, a corporate restaurant, business center, and fitness facility, alongside green terraces. Sébastien Matty, president of GA Smart Building, highlighted the use of off-site construction methods, with low-carbon concrete and prefabricated elements. The site will also feature 6,371 m² of landscaped areas, including 3,140 m² of existing green space and 2,264 m² of planted rooftops, alongside 40 preserved trees and 150 new plantings.

How Will the Building Impact Sopra Steria’s Operations?

Sébastien Leforestier, Sopra Steria’s regional director for Toulouse, stated the facility will consolidate 2,300 of the company’s 4,000 employees currently spread across seven sites in the Toulouse region. The project aligns with Sopra Steria’s growth strategy, which includes external acquisitions and internal expansion, with plans to hire 1,000 additional staff. The relocation aims to enhance collaboration and operational efficiency, according to the company.

What Are the Sustainability Features of the Development?

The project emphasizes ecological integration, with 22% of the site “desartificialized” to prioritize natural spaces. Joseph Carles, mayor of Blagnac, praised the initiative as part of the city’s broader efforts to “reintroduce nature into urban environments.” The design includes energy-efficient systems, such as photovoltaic panels, and a focus on reducing the building’s carbon footprint through sustainable materials and construction techniques.

Why Is This Development Significant for Blagnac?

The Horizon headquarters marks a major investment in Blagnac’s aeronautical zone, which already hosts facilities like Orange’s recently opened site. Carles emphasized the project’s role in reinforcing the area as a hub for innovation and sustainability. The collaboration between Sopra Steria, Foncière d’Icade, and local authorities highlights a shared commitment to balancing economic growth with environmental responsibility, according to officials.

The development underscores Sopra Steria’s strategic expansion in France and its alignment with global trends in sustainable corporate infrastructure. As the project progresses, its completion in 2027 will serve as a case study in integrating large-scale office spaces with ecological and operational efficiency.
