Southern Illinois Wins Braun Intercollegiate to Close Fall Season
Southern Illinois women’s golf won the Braun Intercollegiate on Tuesday at Oak Meadow Country Club in Evansville, Indiana, capturing the team title by six strokes over Indiana State. The Salukis finished the tournament at 32-over par after shooting an opening-round 20-over followed by a 12-over-par final round.
The victory capped a fall schedule that included appearances at the Bear Brawl and The Velvet and Lady Red Wolves Classic. Southern Illinois held its overnight lead entering Tuesday’s final 18 holes to secure the championship.
Salukis Place Three Golfers in Individual Top Five
Kayla Sayyalinh led the Salukis individually, tying for third place at four-over par. Sayyalinh carded an opening-round 35 and followed it with a 39 on Tuesday. Teammates Mackenzie Thomas and Poppy Norcott finished in a tie for fifth place at six-over par.

Thomas posted the lowest final round among the team’s top three scorers with a 34, improving upon her opening-round 37. Norcott opened with a 35 before shooting a 39 in the final round. Maria Eugenia Peres tied for 31st at 16-over par, and Calli Smith tied for 41st at 19-over par to complete the team lineup.
Individual Competitors Round Out Saluki Roster
Four additional Salukis competed as individuals at Oak Meadow Country Club. Allie Santos tied for 36th place at 17-over par, while Zeme Moore finished tied for 39th at 18-over par.
Hannia Gastelum Cedano tied for 41st at 19-over par, and Taylor Pacheco finished tied for 56th at 25-over par. The complete team and individual results finalized the fall semester schedule for the program.
