Seventh Edition of Spanish Film Week to Illuminate Puerto Rican Screens

The 7th Spanish Film Week is set to captivate audiences in Puerto Rico from April 3rd to 9th, showcasing a diverse and compelling selection of contemporary Spanish cinema. The event will take place at Fine Arts Cinema Café Popular Center and Fine Arts Cinema Café Miramar.

A Showcase of Award-Winning Films

This year’s festival features seven exclusive premieres, including several films recently honored at the Goya Awards, Spain’s prestigious film awards. Among the highlights are:

  • Sundays – Winner of 5 Goya Awards, including Best Film and Best Director, this film explores family dynamics and faith.
  • Sorda – Awarded 3 Goya Awards, this production tells the story of a deaf woman confronting past traumas as she considers starting a family.
  • Homo Sapiens? – An anthological comedy directed by Mariano Cohn and Gastón Duprat, starring Guillermo Francella in 16 different roles.
  • Místura – Starring Bárbara Mori, this Peruvian co-production celebrates the cultural and gastronomic richness of Peru.
  • The Delights of the Garden – An intimate comedy starring Carmen Machi, focusing on reunion and everyday revelations.
  • Far Away – Starring Mario Casas, this film is an intimate exploration of loss and the search for meaning.
  • A Portuguese Quinta – A family drama that has garnered attention at European film festivals, with Manolo Solo and María de Medeiros receiving Goya nominations for their performances.
