Fraud confessed half forgiven? An employee occupying a position of responsibility within the Lalmatie branch of a sports betting company allegedly admitted in a WhatsApp message to his management that he had committed fraud to the detriment of the company. According to a complaint filed on Thursday, February 5, the company’s general manager was alerted on January 22.
In this exchange, the employee admitted to owing the sum of Rs 350,000, apologized and proposed that an amount of Rs 10,000 be deducted monthly from his salary in order to repay the sum. A few days later, an internal audit would have confirmed a shortfall of the same amount within the point of sale concerned. A detailed report was reportedly submitted to management on January 27. As the establishment is equipped with video surveillance cameras, the authorities seized a copy of the audit report as well as the history of transactions carried out between January 15 and 21 in order to further the investigation and determine possible legal consequences.
