Naver and Spotify Deepen Partnership to Enhance Audio Experience for Korean Users
NAVER Corporation, South Korea’s leading digital platform, and Spotify are expanding their strategic partnership to integrate audio content more seamlessly into the daily lives of Korean users. The collaboration, initially launched in November 2025, aims to combine Spotify’s global reach with NAVER’s strong local ecosystem.
Strategic Alignment and Early Progress
Spotify co-CEOs Alex Norström and Gustav Söderström recently welcomed NAVER CEO Sooyeon Choi to Spotify’s Stockholm headquarters to review the partnership’s progress and outline future priorities. The meeting underscored the shared ambition to enhance the audio experience for Korean listeners.
“Korea plays a defining role in global music culture, and Spotify sees it as a market where local creativity and global connection intersect powerfully,” stated Alex Norström. “Our partnership with NAVER reflects our belief that the most meaningful growth comes from combining global reach with strong local ecosystems.”
Integration Across NAVER’s Ecosystem
Since the partnership’s inception, Spotify has been integrated into several key NAVER platforms, including Maps, Search, and NAVER+ Membership. The recent rollout of NAVER single sign-on (SSO) integration has further simplified access to Spotify for Korean users. NAVER and Spotify aim to make it easier for listeners in Korea to discover and enjoy audio across the apps they already use.
Strengthening Collaboration and Future Outlook
“This meeting reinforced the strong foundation we are building with Spotify and the long-term potential of our partnership in Korea,” said Sooyeon Choi. “By bringing together our respective platforms and capabilities, we are focused on deepening this collaboration for users in Korea to discover and experience music and audio content.”
Both companies’ teams met to discuss platform connectivity and identify areas for closer collaboration. Gustav Söderström emphasized the importance of strong partnerships built on shared ambition and evolving platform integration. “Strong partnerships are built not just on shared ambition, but on how platforms connect and evolve together,” he said. “This meeting was about leadership alignment, getting clear on priorities, and how our platforms and teams can continue working together in a thoughtful, long-term way.”
Naver’s Broader AI and Business Strategy
This partnership with Spotify is part of a broader strategy by NAVER to enhance user benefits and leverage synergies with key partners. Naver’s commerce membership program has recently surpassed 1 trillion won in quarterly revenue, demonstrating the success of its user-centric approach. CEO Choi Soo-yeon highlighted the importance of partnerships with companies like Spotify and Lotte in delivering tangible benefits to users. Naver is also accelerating its AI strategy, with plans to embed AI initiatives across its key services, including search, e-commerce, and cloud.
Choi Soo-yeon’s Global Leadership in AI Governance
Further demonstrating NAVER’s commitment to responsible technology development, CEO Choi Soo-yeon was appointed to the UN Global Compact Board of Directors in September 2025. This appointment recognizes her leadership in promoting safe AI development and establishing a robust digital ecosystem.
