Spotify is raising the monthly prices of its Premium music streaming subscriptions in Belgium starting this September, according to an announcement sent to subscribers by the company on Thursday, August 13, 2026. The cost of the standard Individual plan will increase by two euros, moving from 11.99 euros to 13.99 euros per month, representing an approximate 17 percent hike, as reported by the technology media outlet Tweakers and detailed by Business AM.
New Belgian Subscription Tiers and Billing Timeline
Under the updated pricing structure, multiple tiers within Spotify’s lineup are affected across Belgium. Meanwhile, the Premium Family subscription, designed for multiple household accounts, will climb to 23.99 euros per month.
New users face immediate implementation of these rates, as Spotify’s official website already displays the 13.99 euro price tag for fresh Individual sign-ups. Existing subscribers retain their current pricing until their first billing cycle arrives in September, giving current members a brief grace period before the adjustments take effect on their accounts.
Regional Price Harmonization Across Borders
The price increases extend beyond Belgian borders to align regional costs. According to Business AM reporting on Tweakers data, Spotify is rolling out parallel adjustments in the Netherlands and Luxembourg. The adjustments serve to harmonize subscription costs across neighboring markets where services previously priced out at one euro lower, resulting in a slightly steeper numerical increase for Belgian consumers compared to their Dutch counterparts.

Annual expenditures for Belgian users subscribing to the Individual plan will shift from 143.88 euros to 167.88 euros, adding an extra 24 euros to yearly costs. Beyond the Benelux region, Spotify is also updating pricing structures in Argentina as part of its broader international strategy to incrementally raise rates.
Corporate Justification and Investment Strategy
Spotify defends the recurring price adjustments as a necessary measure to fund ongoing platform improvements. According to a company statement quoted by Tweakers and Business AM, the increased revenue directly supports investments in the paid tier infrastructure and improves the overall user experience while providing better backing for performing artists.

The updates follow a prior round of price modifications implemented across markets in April 2025. As the streaming giant continues its push for sustained profitability and creator support, current Belgian subscribers will see the new rates officially hit their accounts when September billing begins.
