Former Walden Green Montessori Dean of Students Charged with Criminal Sexual Conduct
Ferrysburg, MI – Charles Martin Freeman, 38, formerly the Dean of Students at Walden Green Montessori School, has been arrested and charged with two counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct First-Degree. The charges stem from an investigation initiated by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) on Sunday, March 8, 2026, following allegations of possible sexual abuse.
Investigation and Arrest
The OCSO launched an investigation after receiving reports of potential abuse. Detectives quickly obtained a search warrant and arrested Freeman on Monday, March 9, 2026. He was arraigned Tuesday, March 10, 2026, in the 58th District Court in Grand Haven, where bond was denied and he remains in custody at the Ottawa County Jail. Connection to Walden Green Montessori
Prior to his arrest, Freeman was employed in an administrative role at Walden Green Montessori School. He had previously served as the Dean of Students before resigning from his position. FOX 17 reported that Freeman resigned before the school was informed of the criminal charges.
School Response and Ongoing Investigation
Authorities have stated that, at this time, there is no evidence to suggest any sexual misconduct occurred at Walden Green Montessori School. The OCSO has been in communication with the school throughout the investigation.
