Olympic Torch Relays Spark Excitement in Northern Italy

Mantova hosted a impressive finale to a leg of the Olympic torch relay, drawing large crowds and featuring prominent local figures. The event culminated in Piazza Sordello, beneath the Ducal Palace, where Italian football legend Roberto Boninsegna ignited the brazier.

Boninsegna,a former striker for Inter and Juventus and a celebrated member of the Italian national team,described the experience as “extraordinary,” comparing the energy to a match at the San Siro stadium,but amplified by the eager support of his hometown community. Also in attendance were Alberto Bollini,coach of the Italian Under-19 football team,and Lucilla Boari,a bronze medalist at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

The torch will continue its journey on Tuesday,January 20th,traveling through Nogara,Legnago,Rovigo,Monselice,and Este before reaching Vicenza.
