Starbucks and Chase Bank Planned for Berlin Township Route 73 Corridor
Berlin Township, NJ – Plans are underway to bring a Starbucks and a Chase Bank to the bustling Route 73 commercial district, according to proposals reviewed by the Berlin Township Planning Board. The projects, located across from each other, are slated for consideration at the March 17th board meeting.
Route 73: A Growing Commercial Hub
The proposed developments will add to an already thriving retail area anchored by major stores like Walmart, ShopRite, and Home Depot. This success has attracted numerous smaller businesses to the area, making Route 73 a key commercial corridor in South Jersey.1
Starbucks Proposal: Replacing a Phillips 66 Gas Station
The Starbucks location is planned for the western side of Route 73, at the corner of Minck Avenue, adjacent to McDonald’s and across from Chick-fil-A.1 The proposal involves the demolition of an existing Phillips 66 gas station and convenience store, which, as of 2022, was still in operation.1 In its place, a one-story Starbucks with drive-thru lanes will be constructed.
Chase Bank Proposal: Remodeling an Existing Bank Building
The Chase Bank is proposed for the eastern side of Route 73, at the corner of Prospect Avenue.1 The plan calls for remodeling an existing bank building, currently located next to PetSmart and Planet Fitness, to incorporate Chase branding, and signage. Unlike many fresh Chase locations, this branch will retain drive-thru teller lanes.1 Chase Bank has been actively expanding its presence in South Jersey, recently converting a former Fulton Bank branch in West Berlin into a new location.1
Planning Board Review
Both the Starbucks and Chase Bank proposals are scheduled to be reviewed by the Berlin Township Planning Board on March 17, 2026.2, 4 However, as with any planning board hearing, the presentations could be postponed or canceled.1
