Stardew Valley Update 1.7: Clint and Sandy Revealed as New Marriage Candidates
Stardew Valley is celebrating its 10th anniversary with the promise of new content in update 1.7, including two new characters players can romance and marry: Clint and Sandy. The announcement was made by the game’s creator, Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone, during a livestream commemorating the milestone.
Expanding Romance Options in Stardew Valley
For many players, building relationships and starting a family is a core part of the Stardew Valley experience. Currently, the game features 12 marriage candidates, along with Krobus who can be a roommate. Update 1.7 will expand these options with the addition of Clint, the village blacksmith, and Sandy, who manages the Oasis in the Calico Desert .
Clint’s addition has sparked considerable discussion among fans, given perceptions of his character. But, ConcernedApe’s decision aims to provide players with a wider range of romantic possibilities . Sandy, while a long-standing resident of the Calico Desert, will see her storyline and personality further developed in the upcoming update .
A Look Back at Stardew Valley’s Development
The 10th-anniversary livestream wasn’t solely focused on future content. ConcernedApe similarly shared a retrospective look at the game’s development, including early builds dating back to 2012, originally titled “Sprout Valley” . He highlighted how the game evolved from a rudimentary simulation heavily inspired by Harvest Moon on the Super Nintendo to the beloved farming RPG it is today.
