Tragedy on Rechberg Straße: 16-Year-Old Dies in Head-On Collision

A 16-year-old boy died on Tuesday morning following a head-on collision on Rechberg Straße (B64) in Styria, Austria. The accident occurred around 5 a.m. Near St. Ruprecht an der Raab, claiming the life of a passenger in a vehicle struck by another driver who crossed into the oncoming lane.

Details of the Accident

According to initial reports, a 20-year-old driver lost control of her vehicle and veered into the opposite lane, colliding with a car driven by a 42-year-old woman. The 16-year-old boy was a passenger in the woman’s vehicle. Despite the rapid response of emergency services, the boy succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The 42-year-old woman sustained injuries and was transported to LKH Weiz for medical treatment. The 20-year-old driver involved in the accident suffered minor injuries. All individuals involved are residents of the Weiz district.

Road Closure and Investigation

Rechberg Straße (B64) was completely closed for approximately two and a half hours to facilitate rescue operations and the subsequent investigation. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.
