Summer McIntosh and Léon Marchand Dominate pro Swim Series Austin

Austin, TX – January 16, 2026 – Summer McIntosh and Léon marchand showcased thier dominance at the Pro Swim Series in Austin, Texas, both completing impressive victories in the 400m individual medley.

McIntosh, coached by Bob Bowman, expressed confidence in her preparation, telling SwimSwam, “Bob is the best, especially when it comes too an event like the 400 IM. We’ve done lots of practices that are a thousand times harder than a 400 IM race.”

Marchand, also a protégé of Bowman, delivered a commanding performance in the men’s 400m individual medley, leading from start to finish with a time of 4:13.21. He finished over five seconds ahead of the competition. Bobby Finke of Team USA secured second place with a time of 4:18.35, followed by Wilson York in 4:22.20.

The night wasn’t without challenges for Finke, who earlier finished second to Ireland’s Daniel Wiffen in the men’s 800m freestyle.Wiffen won the 800m in 7:50.37.

other notable results included Claire Weinstein of Team USA winning the women’s 200m freestyle in 1:56.62. Van Mathias edged out Kyrgyzstan’s Denis Petrashov in a close finish in the men’s 50m backstroke, clocking 26.89 to Petrashov’s 27.12.

Rising star Ryan Erisman thrilled the home crowd with a victory in the men’s 200m freestyle, finishing in 1:46.66. Skyler Smith achieved an upset in the women’s 50m breaststroke, winning with a time of 30.43 seconds.

Competition continues on Saturday, January 17th, with finals scheduled for the 200m butterfly, 50m butterfly, 200m breaststroke, 50m backstroke, 100m freestyle, and the women’s 800m freestyle, where Katie Ledecky is expected to compete.
