Super Garden Returns: Eoighan Mountaine Barry Transforms First Garden in Ashbourne
Super Garden is back on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player, bringing a fresh wave of gardening inspiration to viewers across Ireland. The new series premiered on Thursday, 23 April 2026 at 7pm, marking the return of the popular show that challenges designers to transform blank social housing gardens into stunning, functional spaces within three weeks and a €15,000 budget.
This year’s location is Millrace in Ashbourne, County Meath – a new social housing development by Meath County Council. Five families who recently moved into their new homes have had their gardens transformed by the competing designers, each aiming to create a space worthy of appearing at Bord Bia Bloom, Ireland’s premier garden show.
The first episode featured Eoighan Mountaine Barry from Lucan, County Dublin, who took on the challenge of redesigning a garden for single dad Anthony and his daughter Alicia. Eoighan described the assigned plot as a “blank canvas” and set out to create a social haven that would suit Alicia’s desire to hang out with friends and Anthony’s need for a dedicated BBQ spot.

Gardening runs in Eoighan’s family – his parents met while working in a garden centre, and his father runs a landscape business. From a young age, Eoighan spent summers and mid-term breaks helping his dad, giving him a deep-rooted connection to the outdoors. Now a student at Trinity College, Alicia appreciated the thoughtful design tailored to her lifestyle.
The expert panel of judges for this season includes Brian Burke (representing Woodie’s and a previous Super Garden winner), Kerrie Gardiner (Bord Bia Bloom’s Show Gardens Manager), Carol Marks (Manager of Horticulture at Bord Bia), and Monica Alvarez (a garden design lecturer representing Dulux Exteriors).
Super Garden is sponsored by Woodie’s and Dulux Exteriors. Each designer brings a unique approach to their garden, with this year’s contestants incorporating ideas such as colourful glass bricks, murals inspired by the Irish landscape, AI-powered watering systems, fountains, pergolas, and accessibility features for wheelchair users.
The winning garden from the series will be recreated at Bord Bia Bloom during the June Bank Holiday Weekend, offering viewers a chance to witness the designs in person at Ireland’s premier garden and food event.
Viewers can watch the latest episode of Super Garden on RTÉ Player, with new episodes airing weekly on RTÉ One.
