The program, initially adopted by SUU in 2022, marks a significant step in prioritizing student safety and well-being.

A Groundbreaking Collaboration

What is Smart Defense™?

However, Smart Defense™ extends beyond physical techniques. The program emphasizes:

  • Situational Awareness: Recognizing potential threats and unsafe environments.
  • Healthy Boundaries: Understanding and communicating personal boundaries in relationships.
  • Verbal Defense: Utilizing assertive communication to deter potential attackers.
