Suzie McAdam on Design Freedom, Armada House, and Remembering Hugh Wallace
“Some people say I’m like a swan. Floating calmly on the surface even as the legs are going a mile a minute underneath,” says Suzie McAdam. The designer was reflecting on her recent projects and her career, speaking from the living room of her renovated Regency-style Georgian home in Dublin.
McAdam, known for her bold design choices, found particular freedom in working on her own home, unburdened by client briefs. This allowed her to fully explore her creative vision, a project that garnered attention, including a feature in Arch Digest.
Recent Projects and Career Highlights
McAdam recently completed the revamp of the historic Armada House in Spanish Point. She also shared her experience working alongside fellow judges Hugh Wallace and Amanda Bone on the show Home of the Year, describing Wallace as “wise and comforting” and noting how he ensured the judging panel regularly enjoyed dinner together for relaxation [Instagram].
