Swarthmore Baseball Set to Face Eastern University After Weekend Split
KANNAPOLIS, N.C. – The Swarthmore College baseball team (1-2) is preparing to travel to Eastern University for a Tuesday afternoon matchup, following a split doubleheader against Pfeiffer University on Saturday, February 21, 2026.
Weekend Recap: Garnet vs. Pfeiffer
Swarthmore faced Pfeiffer University in a doubleheader on Saturday, resulting in a 14-11 loss in the opener and a 5-2 victory in the second game.
Pfeiffer 14, Swarthmore 11
The Garnet started strong, answering Pfeiffer’s first-inning run with two of their own, fueled by a passed ball and a wild pitch. Leor Kedar then extended the lead with a home run in the second inning. Swarthmore continued to build momentum, scoring five runs in the fourth inning with RBIs from Evan Hawkes, Zac Kahn, and Nathaniel Kittredge. However, Pfeiffer mounted a significant comeback, scoring three runs in the seventh and six in the eighth to take a 14-11 lead. Despite bringing the tying run to the plate in the eighth, Swarthmore was unable to close the gap.

Pfeiffer responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning, but Swarthmore quickly tied the game with an RBI single from Deven Peterson in the fifth. Steven Jungers entered the game in the fifth inning with two runners on and no outs, and proceeded to strike out three consecutive batters. Jackson Clemens gave Swarthmore the lead in the sixth with a double, followed by a single from Alessandro Propper-Bowring. Swarthmore extended their lead in the seventh with a home run from Brad Johnston and a sacrifice bunt that scored Peterson. Jungers closed out the game with another three strikeouts in the seventh inning.
