Sweden’s Olympic Medals: A Complete List from Italy

Frida Karlsson and Ebba Andersson took Sweden’s seventh and eighth medals so far in the Olympics in Milan Cortina.

Gold

+ Frida Karlsson, cross-country skiing, skiathlon.

Already the day after the opening of the Olympics, Karlsson made sure to arrange the first Swedish gold. And as she did. Karlsson grilled the competitors who fell away one by one – and when the 26-year-old entered the race there was plenty of time to take a Swedish flag with him over the finish line.

+ Linn Svahn, cross-country skiing, sprint.

She has operated on her shoulder, suffered a concussion and had to wait a long time for her first major success in a championship. But in the first Olympic start of her career, Svahn showed what a primal force she is when everything clicks. The 26-year-old was strongest all day and stood at the top of the podium as Sweden celebrated a historic Olympic triple.

+ Isabella and Rasmus Wranå, curling, mixed doubles.

The golden dreams almost came crashing down already in the swinging group stage, where in the end it was Norway who helped Sweden advance as the fourth and last team. In the medal matches, the Wranå siblings were sharper, not least Isabella who ended an incomparable final by hitting the decisive golden stone.

+ Frida Karlsson, cross-country skiing, 10 km freestyle.

Karlsson is well on her way to becoming the big skiing queen of the Games after offering a new crush in the mile race. Already after barely half the race, she had grabbed a huge lead and finally won by 46.6 seconds.

Silver

+ Ebba Andersson, cross-country skiing, skiathlon.

Andersson hung with Frida Karlsson the longest of all, but quite shortly after the change of skis the 28-year-old also had to give up. For both Sollefteå skiers, the skiathlon success meant that they won their first individual Olympic medals in their careers.

+ Jonna Sundling, cross-country skiing, sprint.

Sundling was dethroned as sprint queen after winning four straight championship golds. But for Sundling, the silver was still a nice message after she failed miserably in the skiathlon just a few days earlier.

+ Ebba Andersson, cross-country skiing, 10 km freestyle.

For Frida Karlsson there is nothing to do at the moment, but Andersson can take comfort in the fact that she is second best in the world right now. There was a second battle for silver, where the Swede was just over three seconds ahead of American Jessie Diggins.

Bronze

+ Maja Dahlqvist, cross-country skiing, sprint.

Four years ago, Dahlqvist left the Olympics in Beijing with two silvers and a bronze. In Val di Fiemme, the 31-year-old sneaked a bit into the shadows in the qualifiers, but she accelerated during the final session where the competitors in the final had no chance against the Swedish trio.
