Alexandria University Secures EGP 1.53 Million for Marine Robotics
Alexandria University’s Council has officially approved a EGP 1.53 million donation from the Talaat Moustafa Group (TMG). The funds are earmarked for the university’s “Aquaphoton” team, providing the capital necessary to sharpen technical and operational capabilities ahead of a regional competition for unmanned submarines and marine robots.
Bridging the Gap from Campus to Industry
Talaat Moustafa Group frames the investment as a core component of its corporate social responsibility strategy, specifically designed to tether academic research to practical innovation. The company intends for this backing to propel the students toward high-level performance in engineering and innovation events while smoothing the transition from university curriculum to the realities of the labor market.

Expanding the Footprint of Applied Education
The Aquaphoton grant is not an isolated effort. TMG has expanded its footprint in applied education to meet the rising demand for specialized skills in landscape management and urban development. Their current initiatives include:
- Applied Technology Schools: The group serves as the industrial partner for the Metwally El-Shaarawy School for Applied Technology and collaborated with the Ministry of Education to launch a specialized landscaping school.
- Internships: TMG provides summer internship programs, granting university students hands-on field experience before graduation.
- Field Exposure: Students from faculties of fine and applied arts are regularly hosted for site visits at developments like Al Rehab City to study modern urban planning.
Five Decades of Corporate Philanthropy
This initiative falls under a social responsibility framework that has defined the group’s business model for more than five decades. Beyond education, TMG’s portfolio of support spans healthcare, cultural preservation, and large-scale community development.
Healthcare and Community Infrastructure
The group’s health-sector commitments include cooperation protocols with the Ministry of Health—most notably during the Covid-19 pandemic—and financial support for high-profile institutions such as the Children’s Cancer Hospital 57357, the Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation, and the Ahl Masr Burns Hospital. Furthermore, the company established the Talaat Moustafa Charity Hospital in Alexandria, serving citizens across Alexandria, Beheira, and Marsa Matrouh.
Integrating Culture and National Development
TMG’s involvement extends into national projects like Bashayer El Kheir and Gheit El Enab. In the cultural arena, the group has utilized its Madinaty development to host the International Sculpture Symposium and partnered with the General Egyptian Book Organization for various book fairs. These efforts represent a deliberate attempt to embed community support into the group’s long-term development framework.
