Tape Store: Debut Single ‘1982/Hold’ Signals Arrival of Experimental Psych Pop Duo

Irish two-piece band Tape Store, comprised of David O’Dempsey and Anthony D’Arcy, have released their debut single, “1982/Hold,” on February 27, 2026, via Rosebud Records. The band describes their sound as “experimental psych pop,” drawing influences from post-punk, Krautrock, and alternative pop.

Musical Background and Influences

O’Dempsey and D’Arcy have been creating music together intermittently since meeting in secondary school. Prior to forming Tape Store, both musicians gained experience playing with other bands, including 1948ish, The Crayonz, The Winters, and Eamonn Dowd’s Racketeers.

D’Arcy cites a diverse range of musical inspirations, including Jones and Strummer, Scott4, Kraftwerk, Phil Lynott, and the songwriting partnership of Forster, and McLennan.^[1]
