The largest part of vehicle production fell to the defense sector.
Tatra Trucks sold 1,337 vehicles last year, roughly 14% less year-on-year. However, plant sales increased by 5%. In Kopřivnice, they saw a big increase in the production of their own engines. The production of eight- and twelve-cylinder engines even jumped by 150% year-on-year. The production of production-intensive vehicles with high added value is also growing.
“Last year’s increase in production output and growth in sales are mainly due to orders for cars and chassis for the army and fire brigade, which include a significantly higher share of components of our own production, including Tatra engines. In 2025, the largest part of vehicles produced, over 1,000 units, fell precisely to the defense sector, which represents an increase of hundreds of vehicles compared to 2024.” said the head of Tatra Trucks, Kristijan Fiket.
Over 60 percent of the plant’s production was exported. The largest number of cars went to the Netherlands, Ukraine, the United Arab Emirates, Germany, Austria or Australia. The Tatra Mountains also traveled to countries such as South Korea and Brazil.
As the newspaper Zdopravy.cz already reported, last year the company announced the largest investment program in its modern history. It is focused on expanding production capacities, modernizing technologies, digitizing processes or building a new hall and logistics facilities.

Projects focused on innovation and modern technologies are also ongoing, including the development of vehicles with alternative drives. Tatra showed its first fully battery-powered truck last year, and is also developing a hydrogen-powered car.

An important milestone last year was the end of production of the Tatra 815 model series, the last car rolled off the production line after 42 years. A total of 158,065 cars of all versions of the now legendary series, the symbol of the Tatra brand, were produced in Kopřivnice.
