Former Ohio Teacher Pleads Guilty in Inappropriate Relationship with Student

Jamelah Daboubi, 28, a former teacher at Horizon Science Academy in Columbus, Ohio, has pleaded guilty to gross sexual imposition and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, according to court documents filed in Franklin County Common Pleas Court MSN.

Details of the Case

The case began to unfold on April 2, 2025, when a relative of a 15-year-classic student discovered the teen was missing and noticed Daboubi’s car parked outside her residence ABC6. Upon approaching the vehicle, the relative witnessed Daboubi exiting the car from the lap of the student ABC6, WLWT.

The student subsequently admitted to having an inappropriate relationship with Daboubi, detailing instances of kissing and physical contact although in the car ABC6, WLWT. A forensic interview at The Center for Family Safety and Healing corroborated the student’s account ABC6. Text messages between Daboubi and the student, recovered from the student’s cell phone, further supported the existence of the inappropriate relationship ABC6, WLWT.

Legal Consequences and School Response

Daboubi was initially arrested on Sunday and held on a $15,000 bond WLWT. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for May 28, 2025 ABC6.

Following her arrest, Daboubi was fired from her position at Horizon Science Academy MSN. She faces up to 18 months in prison and will be required to register as a sex offender MSN. The court has also recommended community control, counseling, and the surrender of her teaching license MSN.
