Lombardy President Condemns Stabbing of Teacher in Trescore Balneario
Lombardy Region President Attilio Fontana has strongly condemned the stabbing of a teacher in Trescore Balneario, a town in the province of Bergamo. Describing the act as “cowardly, extremely serious and unacceptable,” Fontana stated that it had “gone beyond all limits” and called for a unanimous response from society, families, and students of all ages.
Fontana also expressed support for the injured teacher and the teaching staff, and thanked the doctors at Pope John XXIII hospital for their care. Lombardy Region

Attilio Fontana has served as the President of Lombardy since March 26, 2018, leading a centre-right coalition. Born on March 28, 1952, in Varese, Italy, Fontana is a lawyer and a long-time member of Lega Lombarda and Lega Nord (LN). Prior to becoming President of Lombardy, he served as the Mayor of Varese from May 29, 2006, to June 21, 2016. He was also a member of the Regional Council of Lombardy from 2000 to 2006, serving as its President until July 2006.
