Trump Order Drives Salesforce and Microsoft to Adopt Super Intelligence Branding

Donald Trump’s campaign to replace the term artificial intelligence with super intelligence is gaining traction among major technology executives. Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff announced Friday that his company’s AIForce platform is officially being renamed SIForce, as businessinsider.com reported. The shift follows a similar move by Elon Musk, who pledged Sunday to change SpaceXAI to SpaceXSI, updating the company’s X account to reflect the new terminology. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella also adopted the phrasing, using “Super Intelligence” as two capitalized words in a Saturday X post regarding AI model containment and governance.

The corporate rebrandings respond to a September 29 executive order from Trump. The directive instructs federal agencies to substitute “Super Intelligence” and “SI” for “Artificial Intelligence” and “AI” in official communications, websites, reports, and policy documents where permitted by law. Private companies are not required by the order to follow suit. However, the administration argues that modern systems have outgrown their original name by increasingly amplifying human creativity, making the new phrasing a more accurate descriptor of their potential.

Corporate Rebranding and Industry Implications

The terminology shift creates complex branding hurdles for technology firms whose corporate identities or product suites rely on legacy terminology. Companies including OpenAI, Scale AI, Character AI, and Resolve AI did not respond to requests for comment regarding whether they plan to alter their names. Trump escalated the pressure on Thursday, writing on Truth Social that the White House considers anyone using the term artificial intelligence rather than super intelligence to be “THE ENEMY.”

Adopting the new phrasing also raises technical questions about what qualifies as superintelligence. Industry standards generally define superintelligence as systems that surpass human capabilities across a broad range of tasks. Renaming existing products does not establish that current products meet that high capability threshold.
