The Technik Museum Speyer will transform into a hub for science fiction and cosplay fans on September 26 and 27, bringing together fandoms, interactive workshops, and cinematic guests, according to museum announcements. Registration for active participants and groups closes on September 16, with full scheduling details hosted on the official Technik Museum Speyer website.
“Das Science-Fiction-Treffen lebt von den Menschen, die es mitgestalten,” said Corinna Siegenthaler, project manager for the convention at the Technik Museum Speyer, pointing to the community-driven nature of the gathering. “Auch in diesem Jahr möchten wir wieder eine Plattform schaffen, auf der sich die Community austauscht, gemeinsam Erlebnisse schafft und ihre Begeisterung mit anderen teilt.”
Lightsaber Duels and Star Wars Voice Talent
The weekend lineup features live entertainment, highlighted by the performance group Saberproject marking its 20th anniversary with multiple daily choreographic stage shows and duels. Visitors seeking hands-on experiences can participate in dedicated lightsaber combat workshops or enroll younger attendees in padawan craft stations to design custom lightsabers. Alongside the combat displays, the Queens of Naboo will host a specialized cosplay fashion show tracing the intricate textile design of Padmé Amidala, culminating in the live assembly of a complete costume on stage.
The convention also features prominent figures from the German dubbing community. Hans-Georg Panczak, the German voice of Luke Skywalker, returns for his third appearance at the museum. He is joined by Wanja Gerick, who voices Anakin Skywalker in Episode II – Attack of the Clones and Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, and Constantin von Jascheroff, recognized as the young Anakin in Episode I – The Phantom Menace. Sascha Rotermund, who voices Din Djarin in The Mandalorian, completes the guest roster for Sunday. Attendees can secure free autographs and selfies alongside paid voice messages and professional photo sessions.
Cosplay Walks and Parade Participation
Costumed participants can join newly introduced formats designed to highlight community diversity without competitive scoring. The newly launched Cosplay-Walk invites participants aged 16 and older to present their character builds on stage without a judging panel, emphasizing creative expression over competition. Running alongside the stage events, the 501st Legion German Garrison will spearhead the weekend cosplay parade, marching groups and independent costumers through the museum grounds across both Saturday and Sunday.
