A Singapore Police Force officer sustained severe injuries, including facial wounds requiring 20 stitches, after being dragged 50 meters by a teenager escaping on a personal mobility device (PMD) during a late-night noise dispute.
Late-Night Noise Complaint Escalates to Police Confrontation
According to reports from Lianhe Zaobao and Shin Min Daily News, police officers responded to a public feedback call regarding a group of teenagers making a disturbance while playing basketball late at night. When authorities arrived at the scene to address the noise complaint, one of the youths attempted to flee immediately by riding a PMD.
As law enforcement personnel moved in to block the escape, the rider collided with or attempted to push past an intervening officer. The officer became hooked or entangled with the moving device and was dragged approximately 50 meters along the ground before the rider managed to get away.
Severe Injuries and Ongoing Recovery
The dragged officer suffered extensive physical injuries from the high-speed fall on asphalt. Medical evaluations confirmed that the officer required 20 stitches on the face alone, alongside other severe abrasions and trauma that left the individual unable to perform basic daily activities for a period of 20 days.
