Alarm Activation Sparks Early Morning Response

Port Augusta patrols arrived swiftly and established a containment cordon around the school grounds. According to law enforcement accounts, officers spotted two individuals running from the premises toward nearby scrubland situated off Clontarf Street.

Patrols searched the surrounding terrain and located the two suspects hiding within the scrub, where they were taken into custody without further incident. Investigators allege the pair forced entry into the school buildings, resulting in property damage.

Weapons and Stolen Property Recovered During Searches

During a physical search of the teenagers at the scene, officers recovered a fishing knife alongside multiple items suspected of being stolen from the school. The two 17-year-old residents of Port Augusta were subsequently transported for processing and formally charged with serious criminal trespass.

Authorities added extra charges for one of the teenagers, who faces additional counts of possessing a prohibited weapon and theft following the discovery of the knife and the alleged stolen property.

Teenagers Face Port Augusta Youth Court in November

Following their arrest and charging, both teenagers received police bail. They are scheduled to make their formal appearance in the Port Augusta Youth Court on 4 November 2026. South Australia Police have not released further details regarding the extent of the property damage or an inventory of the items allegedly taken.
