Texas A&M Women’s Golf Leads Moon Golf Invitational, Borovilos in First
MELBOURNE, Fla. – Sophomore Vanessa Borovilos of Texas A&M women’s golf fired a 4-under 68 in the second round of the Moon Golf Invitational on Monday, taking the individual lead and helping the No. 6 ranked Aggies maintain their top position heading into Tuesday’s final round.
Aggies Maintain First Place
Texas A&M is currently 4-under par, holding a three-shot lead over No. 8 Auburn at 1-under par. No. 7 Wake Forest (+5), No. 16 Mississippi State (+6), and No. 22 Tennessee (+9) round out the top five teams.
Chadwell Praises Team Resilience
“We slept on a lead and played well today,” said Head Coach Gerrod Chadwell. “Today was probably not our best golf as a team, but we gutted it out and played the golf course from a wind direction that we had not seen yet. I am proud of the team today because it was not easy and we are in a position to fight for a title tomorrow.”
Borovilos in Command
Borovilos birdied the first two holes before a bogey on No. 3. She then played par-or-better on the remaining 15 holes, adding three more birdies to finish with a 4-under 68. This performance gives her a three-shot cushion over Mississippi State’s Izzy Pellot at 3-under par. Borovilos is 6-under 138 after 36 holes and is seeking her first individual championship of the year and the second of her career. More on Borovilos can be found on the Texas A&M Athletics website.
