Henry Backs Talarico After Meeting

Henry threw his support behind Talarico after meeting with the Democratic lawmaker in person to discuss state and national issues. Henry called Talarico’s approach balanced, straightforward, and honest in a campaign video. That endorsement marked a sharp turn for Henry, who previously donated $646,107 in May to the Lone Star Liberty PAC, a political action committee supporting Paxton. Henry explained in his video that he initially backed Paxton during the Republican primary only because he believed incumbent Sen. John Cornyn had stayed in office too long.

Henry stated that while he felt troubled by Paxton’s refusal to debate Cornyn, he supported Paxton at the time anyway. Learning more about Paxton’s various scandals eventually prompted Henry to meet with Talarico instead. Henry operates five law offices across Texas and starred in a reality television miniseries titled Hangin’ With Los Henrys, which aired on YouTube from 2017 to 2018.

Cogdell and Bush Add Endorsements

Dan Cogdell, a longtime Texas attorney who represented Paxton during his 2023 impeachment and securities fraud cases, also shifted his stance. Cogdell announced on his podcast earlier in the summer that he was backing Talarico, stating that his former client had lost sight of his core mission. Neil Bush, brother of former Republican President and Texas Governor George W. Bush, announced in a Facebook post that he would cast his ballot for Talarico.

Unresolved Questions in the Senate Race

Voters still lack clarity on how these high-profile defections among traditional conservative donors and attorneys will impact the final vote tallies across Texas. Neither Paxton nor Talarico’s official campaign organizations have released detailed polling figures accounting for the impact of these specific crossover endorsements on the upcoming election.
