Shannon Health System to Acquire Scenic Mountain Medical Center
Shannon Health system, based in San angelo, Texas, has entered into an asset purchase agreement to acquire Scenic Mountain Medical Center in Big Spring, Texas, from subsidiaries of Quorum Health, headquartered in Brentwood, Tennessee. This acquisition builds upon Shannon’s recent purchase of West Texas Medical Plaza in 2024, which houses scenic Mountain Medical Group.
Upon completion of the deal,expected in the coming months,Scenic Mountain Medical Center will integrate into Shannon’s expanding regional healthcare system. Currently, Shannon operates three hospitals, 25 clinic locations, and employs over 400 healthcare providers throughout West texas. Scenic Mountain Medical Center is a 146-bed community hospital serving the Big Spring area.
Mallik Chowdary Yenigella, CEO of Scenic Mountain Medical Center, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating that joining Shannon is a logical step given the association’s established presence and shared dedication to enhancing healthcare services in the Big Spring community. He emphasized that the transition will bolster their ability to meet the evolving healthcare needs of the region.
Future plans for scenic Mountain Medical Center include renovations to the urology department and other key areas, the establishment of a new urgent care clinic to provide accessible walk-in care, and the installation of advanced imaging and mammography equipment to broaden diagnostic capabilities. These improvements demonstrate Shannon’s commitment to investing in and strengthening healthcare resources within the Big Spring community.
