LUBBOCK, Texas — No. 16 Texas Tech defeated the Cincinnati Bearcats 80-68 Tuesday night at United Supermarkets Arena, improving to 21-7 overall and 11-4 in Huge 12 Conference play. Cincinnati falls to 15-13 on the season and 7-8 in conference action.1

Red Raiders Capture Control After Hot Start by Bearcats

Cincinnati started the game strong, making their first nine field goal attempts, including all four from three-point range, to establish a 23-16 lead.1 But, Texas Tech responded with a 15-2 run to take the lead before halftime.

Texas Tech extended its advantage in the second half, eventually leading by as many as 17 points. A Luke Bamgboye layup with 4:23 remaining put the Red Raiders ahead 78-61, effectively sealing the victory.1

Anderson Leads Texas Tech, Thiam Shines for Cincinnati

Christian Anderson led Texas Tech with a dominant performance, scoring 31 points, grabbing 11 rebounds, and dishing out seven assists.1

Moustapha Thiam led Cincinnati with his fourth double-double of the season, recording 21 points and 10 rebounds.1 Jalen Celestine added 15 points, whereas Baba Miller and Jizzle James each contributed 12 points for the Bearcats.1

Rebounding and Shooting Prove Decisive

Texas Tech controlled the boards, outrebounding Cincinnati 40-24 overall and 28-13 on the defensive end.1 The Red Raiders also shot efficiently, connecting on 52% of their field goal attempts (27-of-52) and 40% of their three-pointers (10-of-25).1

Cincinnati will return home to face Oklahoma State on Saturday at 2 p.m. At Fifth Third Arena.1
