Although John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Pete Best (that was the band’s line-up at the time) had already been known to Liverpool music fans for several years, their first appearance in their homeland under the name The Beatles took place on February 9, 1961. It was quickly established that Harrison was not of legal age and, of course, had no work permit in West Germany, so the boy had to be deported to the British Isles.

As a result, McCartney and Best were expelled from West Germany, and Lennon soon willingly followed them, who decided that the future lay with these musicians, rejecting the Germans’ ideas about looking for new members for the group.
