“The Dangers in My Heart” Manga Concludes, Compilation Film Set for Release

Norio Sakurai’s acclaimed manga series, The dangers in My Heart (Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu), is nearing its end. The announcement came with the release of the 13th compiled volume, revealing that the story will conclude in the next volume. Natalie.mu first reported the news.
Published in Weekly Shōnen Champion in March 2018, the Dangers in My Heart follows Ichikawa Kyotaro, a seemingly aloof high school student who secretly harbors intense emotions and a fascination with the class idol, Anna Yamada. The manga, licensed in English by Seven Seas Entertainment, explores themes of loneliness, social anxiety, and the complexities of first love, all wrapped in a unique and often humorous narrative.
Publication History and Adaptations
The manga’s journey wasn’t without its shifts. After initially appearing in weekly Shōnen champion, it moved to Champion Cross in April 2018. When Champion Cross merged with champion Tap! to form Manga Cross in July 2018, the series continued its publication there. Manga Cross later reverted to Champion Cross in April 2024. The 12th volume was released in Japan in June 2025, with Seven Seas Entertainment set to publish it in English on February 24th. Amazon carries the Japanese volumes.
The popularity of The Dangers in my Heart has extended beyond the manga pages. A light novel adaptation, penned by Kota Nozomi and illustrated by Sakurai and sune, was released in Japan in September 2024. Additionally, a spinoff series, Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu Love Comedy ga Hajimaranai, focusing on Kyotaro’s sister Kana, launched in July 2025.
From Anime series to Compilation Film
An anime adaptation premiered on TV Asahi in april 2023, with streaming available through HIDIVE. A second season followed in January 2024, also streamed on HIDIVE. A spinoff anime, adapting the Twi-Yaba manga, debuted in December 2023, with HIDIVE providing English dubbing.
Fans can look forward to The Dangers in My Heart: The Movie, a compilation film scheduled to open in Japan on February 13th. The film will include new footage and continue the story beyond the manga’s finale.
