World Premiere Scheduled for December 10
The independent fantasy comedy The Kingdom of Rexmonte will make its world premiere at the Lewis Theatre in Lewisburg, West Virginia, on December 10. The film, directed by Rebeccah Crabtree, features a medieval setting crafted using locations in southern West Virginia and New York. A red-carpet event begins at 6 p.m. on the premiere date, followed by a screening and Q&A with the production team. Additional showings are scheduled for December 11 and 12.
Shot at West Virginia and New York Locations
Shot on a $750,000 budget and completed in September 2026, The Kingdom of Rexmonte utilized the West Virginia Renaissance Festival grounds near Lewisburg for medieval village scenes, including stables, an inn, and a military encampment. Filming also occurred in Greenbrier State Forest for nighttime woodland sequences and in Altamont, New York, for castle exteriors and sword battles. Local residents contributed as extras, while the production coordinated with communities in Pennsylvania and New York for additional scenes. Additional filming took place in Doylestown and Dover, Pennsylvania, while castle exteriors and sword battles were shot in Altamont, New York, and interiors near Lake George.
Award-Winning Director’s Debut
Rebeccah Crabtree, a Los Angeles-based filmmaker and graduate of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, spent six years developing the screenplay. The film earned awards for directing, original story, and fantasy filmmaking at the 2026 Los Angeles Film Awards, as well as an Award of Excellence for Best Feature Film at the SoCal Film Awards. “One day we’re galloping on a horse through a field in the sunshine, and the next day our horse is stolen by forest goblins,” Crabtree wrote in her director’s statement.
Cast Portrays Royal Family Members
The film stars Maria Alej Alva, David W. Rice, and JeaDa Lay as members of a royal family facing an invasion. Tickets for the premiere are priced at $15, with reduced rates for subsequent screenings. The Lewis Theatre website lists details, while the film’s official site provides a trailer and production updates. A broader theatrical or streaming release remains unconfirmed. Maria Alej Alva, David W. Rice, and JeaDa Lay portray Sylvie, Prince Frederick Rexmonte, and Princess Monica Rexmonte, respectively.
Collaboration with Communities Called Unforgettable
Crabtree, who grew up in the Greenbrier Valley, described West Virginia as a “second home” in an earlier interview, citing its natural landscapes as inspiration. The premiere marks the culmination of a six-year project, with the director calling the collaboration with West Virginia and New York communities “unforgettable.”
Upcoming Events
