‘The Morning Show’ Recap: Deals, Deepfakes, and a Whole Lot of Betrayal

this week on the Morning Show, the web of deceit continues to tighten, with everyone seemingly willing to compromise their morals for self-preservation. Cory’s internal struggle takes center stage as he grapples with his feelings for Bradley and the shocking truth about his mother’s EPA report.

Chip’s attempt to appeal to Cory’s better nature falls flat initially. Cory, reeling from both Bradley’s actions and his mother’s secrets, is consumed by bitterness. Though,a wave of nostalgia and contemplation leads him to compare the original and “official” EPA reports,confirming Bradley’s claims of a cover-up. Armed with this evidence, Cory considers a dangerous bargain with Celine, offering the report in exchange for Bradley’s release from Belarusian prison.

Meanwhile, Mia uncovers Celine’s manipulation of Alex’s AI software, revealing that Celine hired a TMS producer to create a deepfake of Alex in an attempt to get her fired. When confronted, Celine doesn’t back down. Instead, she threatens to expose alex’s own questionable dealings – a proposed trade with a sanctioned Russian oligarch – unless Alex resigns within 24 hours.

Facing career implosion, Alex turns to Cory for help, only to discover he and Celine are entangled in a romantic relationship. The betrayal is complete, and Alex is left reeling, questioning everyone’s motives. even Paul Marks recognizes the severity of the situation, acknowledging the risk of federal scrutiny should Alex’s dealings with Ivanov become public.

Alex and her father make the big announcement,and Alex does not mince words about Celine Dumont. As Martin predicted, Celine is blindsided. She is enraged. And even more so once she sees that even TMS is reporting this as breaking news (thanks to a well-orchestrated nudge from Mia) after she ordered Ben to ignore it. This is when Cory places his well-timed call to fan the flames.Can you believe this? Alex would do anything to save Bradley! It’s her pressure point! It’s all about getting Bradley home! He pushes and pushes Celine, telling her he’s at the press conference and he’s going to try and stop Alex however he can. She starts screaming on the other end about how she will make sure Bradley Jackson never returns from Belarus. She sounds like she really means it, guys. And that’s when she realizes that Cory’s put her on speakerphone and handed it over to Alex to hold up to the mic. Her threats are all over the news. Celine has no move to play but to jump on her family’s private jet, return to France, and except whatever punishment her father has in store.

Celine’s comeuppance is fun to watch, but so was Marion Cotillard on the banana pants program that is The Morning Show. I hope Celine is simply down and not out. May she and her perfect suits return to wreak havoc on UBN in the future.
