Recent Events and Reflections
This tour follows the passing of drummer Andrew ‘The Clobberer’ Ranken last month, a founding member of the band who contributed to all of their studio albums and live shows until 1996. The band also continues to honor the memory of frontman Shane MacGowan, who died in November 2023.
Last year, the surviving members of The Pogues embarked on their first headline tour in over a decade, inviting special guests to perform in place of MacGowan. The band previously celebrated the 40th anniversary of their album ‘Rum Sodomy & The Lash’ in 2024, noting the influence of bands like Fontaines D.C., Kneecap, Lankum, and The Mary Wallopers.
