The Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco) warned the Mexican population not to fall into scams of alleged job offers in the agency announced in social networksespecially TikTok.
What did Profeco declare about labor scams?
Through a video published in X, the owner of Profeco, Ivan Escalantepointed out that there are profiles on said social network in which alleged vacancies in government institutions such as: Attorney General’s Office (FGR), Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), National guard o Mexican Petroleum (Pemex).
He explained that the publications also expose fraudulent job offers in private companies such as Suburbia, Cinepolis, Liverpool, Similar Pharmacies, Aeromexico, Coppeland more. Regarding vacancies and salaries, there is a diversity of opportunities for users; from an assistant position, with a salary of 6 thousand pesos monthlyeven engineers with a salary of 26 thousand pesos.
Profeco actions in the face of fraudulent offers
Given this situation, the consumer advocate asked the population to be careful not to believe this type of publications. He recalled that very similar accounts had already been detected and “we notified Tik Tok to tell them that this is obviously a fraud, because we do not make these types of calls,” so some accounts were taken down, “but suddenly they take a long time.”
In that sense, Ivan Escalante He called on the social network “because clearly these types of accounts that arise many times are completely illegal.”
Impact of labor scams on the population
Iván Escalante called on TikTok “to get its act together, identify these accounts because they put people at risk and are clearly fraudulent.” Along the same lines, the head of Profeco reiterated to users to be very careful not to fall for this type of publications and to check that the accounts that issue information regarding job vacancies belong to official and verified accounts.
