Tina Fey, Jamie Dornan, and Riz Ahmed to Headline Saturday Night Live UK

The highly anticipated British version of Saturday Night Live has announced its first three hosts: Tina Fey, Jamie Dornan, and Riz Ahmed. The six-part series, set to air live on Sky, will launch on March 21st and promises a blend of topical sketches, live music, and satirical news commentary.

First Three Episodes

Tina Fey, known for her extensive work on the American Saturday Night Live as a writer, actress, and host, will kick off the series on March 21st. Indie band Wet Leg will serve as the musical guest for the premiere episode. BBC News reports this marks the first British adaptation of the long-running sketch comedy show, created by Lorne Michaels in 1975.

Following Fey, Jamie Dornan, recognized for his roles in Fifty Shades of Grey and The Tourist, will host on March 28th. Brit Award-winning band Wolf Alice will provide the musical performance that evening. The Independent confirms these details.

Riz Ahmed, acclaimed for his work in Four Lions, will take the stage on April 4th, with rock band Kasabian performing live. The Guardian highlights the show’s commitment to a fast-paced production schedule, with scripts written and rehearsed in the week leading up to each live broadcast.

The SNL UK Format

Each 75-minute episode of SNL UK will mirror the format of its American counterpart, featuring an opening monologue, topical sketches, live musical performances, and a satirical take on current events called Weekend Update. Deadline notes that the show will be broadcast live from London every Saturday at 10:00 PM on Sky.

Cast and Writers

The inaugural cast of SNL UK includes Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, Ania Magliano, Annabel Marlow, Al Nash, Jack Shep, Emma Sidi, and Paddy Young. The writing team features Charlie Skelton (8 Out of 10 Cats), Al Roberts (Stath Lets Flats), and Bella Hull (Have I Got News For You), among others.

Jonno Johnson is the series’ head writer.
