TNT Sports to Broadcast Team USA Olympic and Paralympic Events
TNT Sports has acquired the broadcasting rights for Team USA’s participation in several sports at the 2024 Paris Olympics and the 2024 Paralympics, alongside existing rights to basketball, ice hockey and soccer. This deal underscores the growing interest in Team USA following their gold medal successes in both men’s and women’s basketball at the Paris Olympics. While the Olympics typically garner more attention than the World Cup, these tournaments will showcase top athletes and attract significant viewership.
Expanding Sports Portfolio
The agreement extends TNT Sports’ coverage to include a diverse range of Olympic and Paralympic sports. This builds upon their existing coverage of college basketball, including the NCAA Men’s March Madness tournament, and the Unrivaled three-on-three women’s basketball league. The acquisition demonstrates TNT Sports’ continued commitment to basketball despite losing the rights to the National Basketball Association (NBA) last year.
Integration with CBS Sports
These broadcasting rights will be integrated into a combined portfolio with CBS Sports, pending regulatory approval of their ongoing merger in the United States. This consolidation will create a broader platform for showcasing Olympic and Paralympic events to a wider audience.
