Toby Alderweireld Trades Football Boots for Chef’s Whites in “Komen Eten”
Belgian football icon Toby Alderweireld, the 2023 Golden Shoe winner, is stepping outside his comfort zone and into the kitchen for the latest season of the popular cooking competition “Komen Eten” (Reach and Eat). The indicate, airing Monday through Thursday on Play, pits Alderweireld against three West Flemish cooks: Elodie Gabias, Manu Van Acker, and Bart Tommelein.
A Reluctant Chef
Despite his success on the football pitch, Alderweireld admits he’s no culinary expert. “I have nothing to do with cooking, I can’t do it, I love going out to eat,” he stated candidly in the program’s introduction. Play.tv reports that to prepare for the challenge, he sought guidance from a professional chef. His wife also assisted with the table setting.
More Than Just Cooking
While Alderweireld acknowledges his limited cooking skills, he’s eager to showcase his impressive villa during the show. Voetbalkrant.com notes that he expressed immense pride in his home.
The Competition Lineup
Following Alderweireld’s kickoff, Elodie Gabias will take her turn, followed by Bart Tommelein in Oostende. Manu Van Acker, recently relocated from Oostende to Antwerp, will conclude the series. Play.tv
