Thomas (Tom) Davis, Former Athenry Vocational School Vice Principal, Dies
Thomas (Tom) Davis, a former vice principal of Athenry Vocational School, has passed away peacefully at the Brampton Care Centre in Oranmore, Galway. He was dearly beloved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed by the community.
Life and Career
Tom Davis dedicated a significant portion of his career to education, serving as vice principal at Athenry Vocational School. Athenry Vocational School aims to foster a nurturing environment for students, and Davis played a key role in upholding that mission.
Family and Remembrance
He is survived by his wife, Joan, and their children, Siobháin, Aisling, Thomas, and Emmett. He is also remembered by his sons-in-law Gavin and Peter, daughter-in-law Ellen, and grandchildren Ronan, Síofra, Emily, Johnny, and Joshua. Tom was predeceased by his brothers, Michael and John, and is fondly remembered by his sisters, Marion and Anne, as well as the extended Davis and Coogan families, neighbors, and friends.
Funeral Arrangements
Tom will lie in repose at the O’Flaherty Funeral Parlour, Munster Avenue (H91V1K8) from 4:30 p.m. To 6:00 p.m. On Sunday, March 1st, 2026. A Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 2nd, 2026, at 11 a.m. On arrival at St. Mary’s Church, The Claddagh. Following the Mass, he will be laid to rest in Rahoon cemetery. The Mass will be live-streamed via St. Mary’s Church’s live webcam.
The family requests that the house remain private. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in the form of messages of sympathy in the online Book of Condolence.
Parking and Accessibility
Attendees are advised to approach the funeral parlour entrance on foot from Fr. Burke Park. Street parking is available on Fr. Griffin Road, within the Claddagh, on Henry Street, and Sea Road. Due to ongoing road works, diversions are in place. Car parks within walking distance include those at The Claddagh Church, Spanish Arch, and Mill Street (adjacent to the Garda Station). Early arrival is recommended for parking at The Claddagh Church, as the car park fills quickly.
