Former footballer Ian Holloway and Luton Town captain Tom Lockyer are supporting a new campaign urging young people to get their hearts screened. The “Every minute Matters” campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance of early detection of heart conditions.

Lockyer collapsed on the pitch in December 2023 after experiencing an arrhythmia – an irregular heartbeat. He had previously undergone heart surgery in 2020 to correct a similar issue. He’s now recovering and wants to help others.

“I was lucky,” Lockyer said. “I knew I had a condition, but it still came as a shock. Screening can really make a difference, and it could save someone’s life.”

The campaign is being led by Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY), a charity that works to reduce the incidence of sudden cardiac death in young people. They offer affordable heart screenings to people aged 14-35.
