Transparency International Indonesia (TII) has released the scores Corruption Perception Index (IPK) of a number of countries. There are 10 countries that have the highest GPA scores, aka the cleanest from corruption.
TII Program Manager, Ferdian Yazid, explained that the 10 countries with the highest average GPA scores came from the Scandinavian region. Apart from that, there are two countries from Asia Pacific that are in the top 10 highest GPA scores.
“The top 10 countries at the top of the CPI standings, the majority are dominated by Scandinavian countries. There are Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. Then, there are outlier for example two Asia-Pacific countries, namely Singapore and New Zealand,” said TII Program Manager Ferdian Yazid to journalists, Tuesday (10/2/2026).

Ferdian detailed that in first place there is Denmark which has an SPI score of 89. In second place is Finland with an SPI score of 88. Meanwhile in third place is Singapore with an SPI score of 84.
Then, in fourth position is New Zealand (81), fifth is Norway (81), sixth is Sweden (80), seventh is Switzerland (80), eighth is Luxembourg (78), ninth is the Netherlands (78), and finally 10th is Germany (77).
Even so, Ferdian said, at the global level there has been a decline in leadership in eradicating corruption. This can be seen from the decline in the CPI scores of 12 countries in the past decade, which had scores above 80.
“This year, there are only five countries. So there are many setbacks in the commitment to eradicate corruption at the global level,” said Ferdian.
Apart from describing the 10 countries with the highest SPI scores, Yazid revealed several countries with the lowest SPI scores. He said the countries with the lowest SPI scores came from Fragile Estate countries in Central America, Latin and Africa.
“For example, the lowest is Venezuela, which was recently attacked by Donald Trump, then there are also Somalia and South Sudan. So countries in conflict are usually also vulnerable to corrupt practices,” he added.
Meanwhile, in 2025 Indonesia will be ranked 109th, aka down 10 places from last year. Indonesia’s SPI score this year is 34.
“Indonesia’s CPI score this year is 34. Then, its ranking compared to 180 other countries is 109,” said Ferdian.
“So the score dropped by three points, the ranking dropped by 10 places,” he explained.
He revealed that the GPA score put Indonesia on par with African countries such as Algeria and Sierra Leone. Indonesia is also on the same score as Laos.
“The following are the CPI scores of other countries which have the same scores. So there are several African countries, for example Algeria, Malawi, Sierra Leone. Indonesia also has the same score as neighboring ASEAN country, Laos,” he said.
The following are the GPA scores between ASEAN countries:
Singapore (Rank 3, score 84)
Malaysia (Rank 52, score 52)
Timor Leste (Rank 53, score 44)
Vietnam (Rank 81, score 41)
Indonesia (Rank 109, score 34)

Thailand (Rank 116, shoes 33)
