Toronto Hotel Firearm Investigation: Mississauga Man Charged, London Woman Arrested
A Mississauga man and a London, Ontario woman are facing charges after a handgun was discovered at a downtown Toronto hotel. The incident, which occurred near King Street West and Blue Jays Way, led to an investigation by the Toronto Police Service (TPS).
Initial Incident and Arrest
On Sunday, March 22, 2026, at approximately 3 p.m., officers responded to a suspicious incident at a hotel in the area. A handgun was located on the premises, leading to the arrest of Malek El Sayah, 30, of Mississauga.
El Sayah has been charged with multiple offenses, including:
- Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
- Three counts of possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime exceeding $5,000
He was scheduled to appear in bail court on March 23, 2026.
Second Suspect Apprehended
Daniela Young, 31, of London, Ontario, was initially wanted by police in connection with the investigation. She turned herself in to police on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.
Young has been charged with:
- Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
- Possession of a prohibited/restricted weapon or prohibited device knowing no authority (over capacity magazine)
- Possession of a firearm while prohibited
Young was scheduled to appear in bail court on March 24, 2026.
