Suspect Arrested in 2025 Shooting Death of Toronto Teen Jahkai Jack
Toronto police have announced the arrest of Abdul Yeberebaba, 20, in connection with the shooting death of 15-year-old Jahkai Jack. Yeberebaba was apprehended by the Calgary Police Service on February 27, 2026, and has been returned to Toronto to face charges.
Details of the Arrest and Charges
Abdul Yeberebaba is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Jahkai Jack, according to a Toronto Police Service news release. He is scheduled to appear in court at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre, 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Friday, March 6, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. In room 301.
The Shooting Incident
Jahkai Jack was shot on June 7, 2025, near Emmett Avenue and Jane Street in Toronto. Police stated the shooting occurred during a gathering and that Jack was not involved in gangs or criminal activity as reported by CBC News. The shooting followed a verbal exchange, and police described the act as unprovoked according to the Toronto Star.
Additional Arrests
Two other men have been arrested in connection with the case. Jayden Samuel-James, 19, and Rajveer Gill, 21, have been charged with accessory after the fact to murder. Gill was arrested in British Columbia and has been returned to Toronto as detailed by CBC News.
