Toronto Woman Extradited from Jamaica, Charged in 2024 North York Homicide

Toronto, ON – A Toronto woman has been extradited from Jamaica and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of Anthony McBean in North York in September 2024. Debbie Jones, 43, was arrested upon her return to Canada on Friday, March 6, 2026, and is scheduled to appear in court on Saturday.

Details of the Incident

On September 30, 2024, at approximately 7:28 a.m., Toronto police responded to reports of a shooting in a plaza located on the northwest corner of Jane Street and Lawrence Avenue West. Officers discovered a man suffering from gunshot wounds at the scene, who was later pronounced dead. The victim was identified as 42-year-old Anthony McBean of Toronto.

Investigation and Arrest

Investigators identified two suspects in the case, believing both had fled to Jamaica following the killing. Debbie Jones was extradited from Kingston, Jamaica, on March 6, 2026, and charged with second-degree murder.

Suspect Still at Large

The second suspect, identified as 37-year-old Ricardo Manuel Bailey, remains wanted for second-degree murder and is as well believed to be in Jamaica. Police continue their efforts to locate and apprehend Bailey.
