Global Peloton, the cycling journalism platform focused on reporting from beyond Europe, has transitioned to Escape Collective. Founder Dan Challis announced the move, signaling a new phase for the platform and a continued commitment to covering cycling in Africa, Asia, and South America.

Dan Challis’ Global Peloton is now published on Escape Collective, a platform dedicated to in-depth cycling coverage. This move aims to provide a more sustainable future for independent cycling journalism. For the coming weeks, the free bi-weekly newsletter will continue on Substack before fully migrating to Escape Collective’s newsletter group.

Challis encourages supporters to subscribe to Escape Collective through his articles, as the majority of membership fees directly support his work. Global Peloton’s Substack will continue to host content temporarily during the transition.

Tour du Rwanda: Progress and Safety Concerns

The 18th edition of the UCI Tour du Rwanda recently concluded, showcasing African cycling talent but too highlighting safety concerns. The race saw the tragic deaths of two spectators on the opening stage, raising questions about safety measures as the event aims for WorldTour status.

Organizers are exploring options to upgrade the Tour du Rwanda to WorldTour level or create a new high-level race in Africa, aiming to establish a permanent presence for the continent at the top level of professional cycling.
